The Bird
2019.7.8
Lie down on the grass
A bird flew past in the sky
At least miles away from me
Or more
A little less is possible, like 500 meters
Because I don't know what bird it is, or how big it is
The bird, it just flew
Flapping its wings in the manner of a bird
From my left all the way to my right
It will be back next year this time
But it's hard to say if it's the same bird
Or it might not be a bird
It is also possible that the bird is not a bird at all
I just subconsciously thought
Anything that looks like a bird
As a bird
The dream series experiments with various materials and different ways of representing memory fragments and dream visualizations.
I’ve explored different material usage this time with acrylic to correspond to my concept of deconstruction, reconstruction and juxtaposition. I purposefully left the print left attached to the acrylic print, so the print, the acrylic print, and the gap between the two materials produce a level of hierarchy and layers. The left behind colors and images on the original prints and the parts pressed onto the acrylic correspond to the topic of memory fragments and the concept of deconstruction. The gap in between the two materials produces reflection and shadows within the object itself, such a lighting effect allows a level of juxtaposition between the abstraction and realness.
